Overview
Text files from IBM iSeries servers are encoded in EBCDIC. They can be encoded with font information, including set lines per inch and characters per inch values. You cannot change the font settings in eFORMz without overriding the set values in the source file. The article will include the procedure on updating spool file font settings.
Symptoms
Follow the steps below if you cannot change the font attributes in the eFORMz project from what your .scsa spool file from IBM iSeries displays. No changes are needed if the font attributes meet your requirements.
Troubleshooting Steps
Requirements: You must have the eFORMz Composer and the .scsa iSeries spool file available to complete the following steps.
- Make a backup copy of the eFORMz project file.
- Open the eFORMz project file in the eFORMz Composer.
- Load the iSeries spool file as the data file.
- Determine if changes are needed. The following document displays too wide. Usually, you can change the lines per inch and characters per inch values, circled below in red. However, if the data file has set the font values, changes cannot be made.
- To override the font settings in the document, right click the project name (Project in this example) > Properties > Data Parsing.
- Click the SCS tab.
- Scroll down the list of Processed control codes:
- Select Set FID through GFID
- Click Ignore.
- Click OK.
- Save your change to the project.
- Make your changes to the font.
