Installing Java to Use with eFORMz

Overview

Java is no longer installed with eFORMz starting with eFORMz Version 2024.1. You must install your own copy of Java.  
 

Requirements

1. You must have a supported version of Java from any supplier (Oracle, Amazon, Red Hat, Ubuntu, or others).
2. OpenJDK provides a no-cost version of Java.
3. If you have an IBM iSeries server, IBM Java is pre-installed. eFORMz will not run without Java.
    

Procedure

We recommend installing Java first, and then installing eFORMz. You can install Java to a system that already has eFORMz installed.

1. Download and install Java. Note the Java installation path.
2. Install or upgrade eFORMz. If you upgraded eFORMz from an earlier version that came with Java and use it with the new version of eFORMz, the results might be unpredictable.
3. Use a text editor to update eFORMz.ini and jsl_ServiceManager_64.ini to point to the installed version of Java. Also, make sure that the user eFORMz runs under is authorized to run Java.
